FAQ

Q: You are giving 100% of the retail proceeds from products made by the poor back to the people who actually made the product...How is this possible/How does the money flow?

A: When a product made by the poor is sold to a person in the developed world we give 100% of the proceeds back to the poor. Proceeds is defined by revenue minus cost. If a 50.00 retail item costs us 15.00 to import and 5.00 to process the order (office, phone, fax, marketing, accounting, web design, credit card fees, etc.) then one is left with 30.00. Of that 30.00, a small percentage (10%-15%) is used to pay for on-the-ground support for cash distribution and collection of products by our partner organizations. This will provide the poor, micro-entrepreneur with about 25.00 USD of the 50.00 it was sold for in our store. No salary is taken from any product made by the poor, allowing NonprofitProducts.org to return 100% of the proceeds to the product creator.

Q: How does your organization stay afloat since you are giving so much away?

A: NPI, Inc. also develops and sells brand items where the customer decides where 50% of the proceeds should be donated to. The other 50% we use to help fund our humanitarian operation. We also apply for grants from corporations and philanthropies and accept donations from the public. Fundraisers and the sale of our Nonprofit Products logo/brand merchandise helps generate operating income.

Q: Wouldn't it be a whole lot easier just to send the poor a cash donation?

A: You bet it would, but, that won't help them out for long. We are creating a system based on something we call sustainable human development. Providing a donation to a poor person is great, we absolutely encourage it, however, to really get someone out of poverty for one’s entire life a cash donation doesn't do the job. The system we are developing will allow a person of very limited financial means gain an income that is not possible in any other way. When a poor person's product is sold, the creator of that product will not only gain a livelihood and a job, but that person will realize something inside of them that was always there, but never had the opportunity to flourish. It will provide the person with a huge sense of accomplishment, the person will gain the basics of a small business education and most importantly the poor micro-entrepreneur will gain a sparkle of hope, where in many parts of the world, the word 'hope' does not exist. Through ones products, a sustainable income will be generated. For a person to know that he/she lifted oneself out of poverty on ones own is an accomplishment so large- words do not do it justice. Ultimately, this system will help develop the human mind, the human spirit and most importantly, the human potential.

The mission of Nonprofit Products International is to help people rise out of poverty, not via a hand-out or a loan, but by a person doing-it on ones own. NonprofitProducts.org is simply an instrument to help the poor realize the potential of one’s own ideas, one’s products, and most importantly one’s inner-entrepreneur.

Q: How does the Inner-Entrepreneur Grant Program Work?

A: We provide a selection of screened individuals abroad looking to start or expand a business. You select any number of individuals you have an interest in by looking at their profile and granting any dollar amount you wish to support them with. Your grant is processed through NPI, Inc. and wired to our on-the-ground support team and partner organizations that distribute funds in local currency. You have the opportunity to contact your grantee(s) throughout the course of their product launch and experiential small business education.

Your grant is considered a tax-deductible donation to Nonprofit Products International, Inc.  and its programs.

Invest in as many or as few people/products you would like. There is no minimum grant and no maximum grant. Each micro-entrepreneur needs to receive $50.00 in contributions by the public to begin the program. When $50.00 is reached, their business will be provided a solid opportunity to gain inventory, hire local staff and design and sell products locally and internationally through NPI, Inc. and its partner organizations.

The Inner-Entrepreneur Grant Program is designed for the exclusive educational and financial success of the grantee. Your grant entitles no one but the grantee rights to their products, sales, marketing and distribution. No independent business deals or offers maybe made to a grantee without explicit permission from NPI, Inc.

What you get in return for your grant is the knowledge that you changed and improved a poor individuals life. You will be able to follow your grantee and his/her products through the course of their business.
